The photographer behind the lens

A life measured
in port days.

Canadian by home, Japanese-Canadian by heritage, and most often found somewhere between sea and shore.

Hello, I’m Erica

I photograph the world in the hours between docking and departure.

I’m a Canadian travel photographer who works aboard cruise ships. My camera has followed me from rainy mornings in Yokohama to glaciers in Alaska, ancient streets in Europe, and bright blue afternoons across Australia.

Working at sea gives travel a different rhythm. Sometimes I have a full day. Sometimes just four hours. There is always a last shuttle, an all-aboard time, and the awareness that the light won’t wait.

That limit changed the way I see. I stopped trying to do everything and learned to notice what matters: the street turning gold at 6:42am, the quiet five minutes before a viewpoint fills, the story behind one frame.

The mission

Make travel feel possible—and personal.

Stamped by Focus exists to help you travel more thoughtfully, whether you have four hours in port or are exploring from your kitchen table.

“Useful enough to guide you. Beautiful enough to keep.”

How the focus developed

From fashion frames
to faraway places.

01

A background in images

Training in game art, film, modelling, and portrait photography shaped a cinematic eye for light, composition, and human moments.

02

A camera at sea

Working as a cruise photographer opened a constantly changing front door: a new destination every few days and a reason to document it honestly.

03

Time-budget travel

Port restrictions became a useful concept—real routes, realistic timing, and clear advice for travellers who cannot waste a minute.

04

A growing visual archive

Each journey becomes a connected collection of photographs, practical stories, and selected fine-art prints.

Why it feels different

Travel content with
the gloss left off.

Real places

Every guide is based on Erica’s own experience—not scraped recommendations.

Real timing

Routes are designed around port days, shuttle times, and the practical route back.

Real photographs

Photography is part of the story, not decoration pulled from a stock library.

Stories you can hold

The monthly club turns one journey into a connected set of paper keepsakes, never a random souvenir.
